POSITION OVERVIEW:

This person will lead volunteer teams to provide an atmosphere of hospitality and warmth that welcomes all guests, attendees and Partners of Inspire Church. They will equip these volunteer teams to identify and follow-up with guests and help them engage in the life of our church. This person must be an excellent team builder, able to identify high-capacity leaders who are invested in Inspire's mission. They must also be a full supporter of the heart, mission, vision and Arrows behind Inspire Church. This person should have excellent leadership, interpersonal and administrative skills.

Discipleship Pastor - Full-time

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Discipleship Pastor is responsible for developing a clear and effective strategy to help Inspire’s attendees easily and efficiently take a “next step” in their relationship with God and connect them into Inspire’s overall community. Ways this could happen would be through attending Guest Party, Small Group participation and/or leadership, serving, community engagement opportunities, becoming an Inspire Partner, etc. Significant freedom will be given to prayerfully recruit, nurture, train, and equip a team of committed leaders who will invest in the lives of both the attendees and Partners of Inspire. A passion of this person must include multiplication of discipleship, and they must excel at volunteer development. Additionally, this role will work alongside multiple other staff members to ensure a cohesive strategy is happening amongst all areas of Inspire through a Family Ministry vision. A relationally driven, shepherd’s heart is needed as they will walk with individuals in crisis-related situations as they arise.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Develop a clear and effective strategy to help Inspire’s attendees easily and efficiently take a “next step” in their relationship with God and connect them into Inspire’s overall community.

• Develop Inspire’s Small Group ministry as the primary avenue for the spiritual growth of members.

• Continually recruit, train, equip, and empower Small Group leaders who continually recruit, train, equip, and equip new Small Group Leaders.

• Oversee and teach Inspire’s “Partnership” materials and classes, focusing on Inspire’s “Arrows” as language to use in their discipleship journey.

• Work alongside the First Impressions Director to help newcomers connect easily and efficiently through Guest Party and Church-Wide Events.

• Work alongside members of the Family Ministry Team to ensure a cohesive Family Ministry vision at Inspire.

• Develop goals and metrics to evaluate success (Ministry Action Plan) each quarter to review with Lead Pastor.

• Serve as Member of the Preaching & Teaching Team, as needed. 

• Assist in care-related situations or crises as they arise, including officiating funerals, as needed.

• Attend meetings with staff and/or one-on-one meetings, as needed.

• Manage appropriate discipleship-related budget lines.

• Other duties as assigned by either the Senior Pastor or Executive Pastor. 

 

SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Maintains a healthy and vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ that includes the consistent practice of the spiritual disciplines. 

• Maintains a reputation of unquestioned integrity. 

• Required to be a Partner of Inspire Church - Abiding by all the expectations inherent with that. 

• Seeks to discern the will and leading of the Holy Spirit in all areas of their life. 

• Be teachable, respectful, humble, and willing to be held accountable. 

• Seeks to work in collaboration with others to achieve desired goals. 

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Be a self-starter with drive, passion and initiative. 

• Excellent relational skills. 

• A proven track record of team building and volunteer development. 

• Excellent communicator with a vision to rally individuals to see a preferred future in their faith journey. 

• Demonstrate strong leadership and ability to set and achieve goals. 

• A proven track record of effective leadership, judgment, and above reproach character. 

• Ability to engage difficult issues and individuals, while shepherding people toward wholeness. 

• Experience in assisting a church or similar organization in developing and successfully implementing comprehensive new programs. 

• Bachelor’s Degree. 

• Seminary Training and/or Ordination Credentials preferred.
